Nancy Rains - Owner:
Nancy Rains has lived full time in the Bay of
Banderas area of Mexico for eight years but has been coming to the area for
extended periods of time for over 30 years from her home in Nevada County,
California. For 40 years this Michigan native and Pasadena Playhouse alumnus has
been a producer, director and actress of Broadway musicals, comedy and drama in
live theatre. In the movie industry she has worked with notables as a casting
director. As a businesswoman she has founded theaters and theater companies for
adults, young people and children Internationally. Outside of theater she has
opened many successful and continuing retail businesses including bookstores,
cookware shops, lingerie stores, gift shops and restaurants. Nancy lives in
Bucerias, Nayarit and San Sebastián del Oeste, Jalisco. She is the mother of six
children and grandmother to16.
Denny and Anita Dabbs-Co-workers:
Denny Dabbs is a
retired elementary school teacher from the St. Louis area. During his years in
the St. Louis area he personally renovated two historic properties. Both of
these were awarded Preservation Society awards. Denny and Anita have also been
rehabbing their Bucerias home since they purchased it in 1998 and are currently
rehabbing another historic property in St Louis during the summer months. Denny
brings to Marketplace Mexico his knowledge of the construction process, his
familiarity with the skills of local tradesmen, and his ability to find viable
solutions to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
Anita is a retired
psychologist. Prior to her years in private practice she had a personal
shopping business in Kansas City, MO. Anita enjoys all aspects of design and is
well acquainted with the versatility and creativity of the local fabricators and
tradesmen. She combines her design talents with her fluency in Spanish to offer
tradesman liaison services to our clients. She believes that “anything is
possible in Mexico”. Anita is skilled at helping clients define their own pe!
rsonal style and translating their design ideas into furnishings custom-crafted
locally for their homes. She also is available to make special purchases for
clients from the wide array of artisan-crafted items available here in Mexico
Don Merriman:
and wife Teresa
co-founded Market Place Mexico.
They have since retired to the Barra de Navidad area where Don is
constructing a home and Teresa continues her translation duties as well as runs
the family business. Who says you can 'retire' in Mexico???
Don moved from Washington State to Mexico four years ago. He brought into Market
Place Mexico, his more than 40 years experience in the auto parts sales,
advertising and marketing business, as well as 20 years as a business owner. He
thinks that owning a small business hammers home the concept of being on time,
doing the paper work, paying bills on time an paying attention to details. He
brings a general knowledge about a variety of mechanical, hydro & electrical
items -knowledge that helps prevent problems and repair items correctly in a
timely fashion and not break the bank.
Always an active member of Rotary Clubs for 30 years in the USA, he joined The
Bahia de Banderas Rotary Club soon after moving to Mexico.
Teresa Gonzalez Merriman:
Teresa joined Market Place Mexico the summer of 2005, putting her talents to
work. Every thing from tutoring children and adults, translations, mediating
between house owners and personnel when the language barrier impairs
communication, to guiding customers through paperwork , or on customers’ behalf
get them signed up with Cable, Internet, or Telmex, CFE accounts and more.
She is an in-service English language teacher.
